The gold reflector difference between quartz infrared heater lamps

Mar 02,2023

In order to better convey and focus on the heated material all the IR radiation emitted from quartz heater lamp, the special gold reflector or white reflector will be coated and fixed directly on the quartz surface. The use of a coating reflectors on IR heaters will obtain an additional increase of the IR radiation energy to the heated materials. So the heating efficiency and drying process time will be faster than quartz infrared heater lamp without any reflect layers.

Let us see the following video to feel the heating temperature on reflect layer side and without gold layer side.

We can obviously feel the heat in the direction of the infrared heating, but the heat is very low in the direction of gold coating. This is because the gold coating reflects more infrared radiation back to the direction of heating. We can also confirm the above views through test temperature data and temperature rising trends.

According to the measured temperature data and the final lamp surface temperature, the surface temperature of the tested heater lamp with gold coating is 110 ° C higher than that without gold coating. This suggests that the gold layer does reflect infrared energy, we also can confirm this from the following contrast.
