In the electronics industry, quartz infrared heating lamps have become an efficient and precise heating solution for PCB soldering and wave soldering due to their rapid heating, energy efficiency, and versatility. By delivering targeted heat quickly, infrared heating lamps ensure uniform soldering, reducing the risk of overheating or under heating at solder joints and protecting sensitive components from temperature fluctuations.

Key Features and Advantages of Quartz Infrared Heating Lamps

High Efficiency and Energy Saving: Quartz infrared heating lamps feature high-temperature tungsten or heat-resistant alloy filaments that reach high temperatures rapidly when powered, emitting substantial infrared radiation. These infrared rays are absorbed by nearby objects and converted into heat, enabling fast and effective heating. The energy transfer efficiency can reach up to 90%.

Precise Temperature Control: When paired with SCR power controllers, quartz infrared heating lamps provide precise temperature control, making them ideal for electronic soldering processes that demand rigorous heat management to prevent damage to sensitive components due to temperature fluctuations.

Durability and Long Lifespan: With an average lifespan exceeding 5,000 hours, quartz infrared heating lamps reduce maintenance costs and minimize production downtime, contributing to greater overall production efficiency.

Versatility: Quartz infrared heating lamps offer a wide power range (10W–20KW) and heating lengths from 10mm to 6000mm, allowing customization for specific application requirements across a range of heating scenarios.

Why preheating before wave soldering? The preheating will heat printed circuit board (PCB) to a certain temperature to avoid thermal shock warping deformation.

At present, the wave soldering machine is basically preheated in thermal radiation method. The common preheat methods of wave soldering include forced hot air convection, electric heating panel, electric heating rod and quartz infrared heating. The infrared preheating before soldering can raise the PCB board temperature quickly and activate the soldering flux, it also can vaporize any moisture that may be absorbed or to dilute the carrier solvent of the soldering flux during preheating process.

With the continuous improvement of wave soldering technology, different kinds of fluxes require a higher welding temperature. If the heating temperature is too high or the preheating time is too long, the flux is easy to be decomposed in advance, making the flux inactivated. In the same short time, our infrared heating is fast response in 1-2 seconds and heat up quickly. And the heating temperature is more accurate and be controlled at ±1℃ by our SCR power controller.
